Parents As Teachers

Have you ever wondered what your child should be doing developmentally? Would you like to know how to help your child reach their maximum potential? Are you looking for potty training or weaning ideas or recommended books? Maybe you have a specific developmental concern or just want to go the extra step with your child. Parents as Teachers is here for you!WIN_20150514_141815 Every child is born to learn and all children should learn, grow and develop to their full potential. That’s the vision of Parents as Teachers, a parenting education and family support program for all parents of children prenatal to kindergarten entry.

Funded by Department of Education, PAT is a free voluntary program serving over 350 families throughout Kent and Sussex County. D.E.C.C. PAT focuses on fostering strong, loving relationships between parents and their children. Your home visitor provides you with the information, support and encouragement to help your children develop during those crucial early years through:

  • Home visits
  • Annual Developmental and Health Screenings
  • Stay and Play groups (Click her for current group locations and times: Summer 2016 S&P Schedule
  • Referrals to other community resources
  • Teen Groups in local High schools and in partnership with DAPI
  • Evening and weekend socialization opportunities throughout the year

Parents As Teachers is excited to announce the receipt of a grant to support a Fatherhood Initiatives in Kent & Sussex Counties.  The Father focused groups are supported in part by the Department of Services for Children, Youth and Their Families Division of Prevention and Behavioral Health Services.
