RELATE ...

RELATE stands for "Relationships Empowering Learning and Affirming Teaching Excellence".

It is a program that is dedicated to creating "caring communities" by providing professional development for the Directors and family care providers who care for Delaware's infants and toddlers. It addresses both the needs of adults who care for infants and toddlers and those who guide program and policy development for children in this age group.

The focus of the program is on creating a climate for child care that is responsive and respective, so that the infant or toddler will get the full benefit of child care. The program teaches adults to get "in tune" with the infants they serve and learn from each individual child what he or she needs, thinks and feels.

DECC created RELATE in partnership with the Family & Workplace Connection funded by a two year grant from the Department of Services for Children, Youth and their Families.
