Who We Are ...

The Delaware Early Childhood Center gives preschoolers the tools they need to make a successful transition to kindergarten and to ensure ongoing success through their elementary school years.

DECC has been been a resource for Delaware children and their families since 1979, working in partnership with the Delaware communities where these children live to provide them withi inclusive, family-centered, developmentally-targeted services.

With a staff of about 100 professionals and paraprofessionals, DECC offers a variety of programs for preschoolers throughout the state. DECC programs embrace these principals:

  • To forge partnerships with families; their values, ideas and decisions that become the foundation for all services and support.
  • To consider famiily interests and strengths in developing personalized plans for the children DECC serves.

DECC services and programs have been funded over the years by such agencies as the Department of Education, Department of Health and Social Services, Department of Services for Children, Youth and their Families, Delaware Developmental disabilities Council and local education agencies.

The agency has been recognized at international, national, state and local levels for leadership, vision and innovative programming.

DECC has a staff of about 100 employees including professionals and paraprofessionals. It is funded with grants from the Delaware Department of Education, the Department of Health and Social Services, Department of Services for Children, Youth and their Families, Delaware Developmental Disabilities Council and local education agencies.
