Ms. Matalavage is a recent 2016 honors graduate of Lycoming College in Williamsport Pennsylvania. She was born in Williamsport, but moved to Milton, Delaware at 9 years old. Ms. Matalavage attended grade school through the Cape Henlopen school district and graduated from Cape Henlopen High school in 2012. This year marks the start to Ms. Matalavage’s teaching career at Lake Forest High School. Ms. Matalavage still lives in Milton, Delaware and enjoys visiting the shore often. She has a small dog names Astro and five brothers. Ms. Matalavage is a classically trained singer and has performed in many major works including Vivaldi’s Gloria and Mozart’s Requiem. She has also performed in small opera scenes. Ms. Matalavage believes it is important to continue practice in her craft in order to give her students the best, so she continues to perform with the Lycoming College Baroque Chorus and Orchestra under the direction of Christopher Jackson. Ms. Matalavage enjoys many outdoor activities such as running, biking, hiking, and swimming. She also enjoys traveling abroad and recently returned from a two-week tour of China in May. Her advice to all of her students is to treat each day like a fresh start and be the change you want to see in the world.
