I am extremely excited to join the Lake Forest community as your new assistant principal! As I have been meeting students, parents, and teachers, it is clear that we have a vibrant culture and a caring, hardworking, and spirited staff and student body. I am thrilled to be working with a faculty who embraces the wonderful diversity of Lake Forest High School — a faculty who works hard to prepare students for both their transition to high school and the challenges of the 21st century. I look forward to collaborating with staff and parents as we continue building on successes and exploring new ways to meet the various needs of all students.
My educational career began in 1996 as a teacher at Chantilly High School in Fairfax County Public Schools. Over the past twenty years, I have served within Fairfax County as a teacher, coach, student government sponsor, assessment coach, middle school assistant principal, and most recently assistant principal at Lake Braddock Secondary School. My top priority is working closely with students, teachers, and parents to ensure a positive learning experience and academic success for each student. As assistant principal at Lake Forest, I will continue this approach. All children can learn and be successful. The rest of my philosophy stems from this simple, yet powerful statement. To educate a child effectively requires a tremendous amount of collaboration and effort among the child, family, school, and community. It is my desire all children grow academically, morally, and socially by providing a learning community that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas. Additionally, I encourage all students to seek challenges beyond the classroom. Whether it’s on the athletic field, on stage, or in a club, the lessons learned in these venues are equally as important to those learned in the classroom. Together, these lessons, experienced in the controlled and safe environment at Lake Forest, will prepare a child to be college and career ready after graduation.
Personally, I was born and raised in Roanoke, Virginia. I am a graduate of William Byrd High School, Virginia Tech, and George Mason University. My wife Carrie is a proud graduate of Lake Forest High School, Shepherd University, and Wilmington University. We have two girls, Avery (8) and Lucy (4) who keep us busy. We are a family of educators; Carrie is an elementary teacher joining the staff of Star Hill Elementary this upcoming school year. I’m an avid sports fan who closely follows the Dallas Cowboys, Baltimore Orioles, and Virginia Tech. I enjoy cycling, running, collecting sports memorabilia, and vacationing with my family in Hilton Head, SC.
I am looking forward to working closely with the Lake Forest learning community to continue to show why Lake Forest is “Your Best Choice”!
