Human Development, Child Development, Exploring Early Childhood, Kindness Counts
Ms. Schmal grew up in Huntington Beach, CA enjoying the beach in the summer and the mountains in the winter. While she has moved all over the country, living in 5 states, she has lived in Delaware since 2005. After obtaining her second master’s degree from Wilmington University in 2014, she was offered a position at Lake Forest High School teaching students in the Early Childhood Education pathway. Ms. Schmal has two children, Madison and Scott, who are both in middle school and keep her extremely busy. In her spare time she loves to spend time with her kids, read, and bake (especially cupcakes but anything sweet will do). She enjoys traveling to California to visit family during the summer and hopes to catch a San Francisco 49er game one of these days! She is constantly encouraging students to be kind to one another and themselves. She hopes that they leave high school with the understanding that when you are kind, it not only changes you, it changes the world!
