Mr. Michel was born and raised in Somers, New York (upstate). After serving 4 years in the Navy, he attended Westchester Community College, receiving two A.S. degrees: Electrical Technology, and Math/Science. Then he went to Oneonta University, and earned a B.S. degree in Math/Education. Finally, at Western Connecticut State University, he earned a Master’s degree in Education. Moving to Seaford in 1994, he and his wife raised 3 children, who are all in their mid 20’s today. After doing 18 years in the Naval Reserve, he was activated in 2003 in support of Desert Storm/Desert Shield, and retired from the Navy in 2004. Mr. Michel stays busy in the community, serving on the board of directors of the Seaford Lion’s Club, as well as President in 2006, and 2015. Presently he is the First Vice Commander of the Seaford American Legion, as well as an active board member. He can also be seen on Sunday mornings, singing in the St. John’s UMC praise team quartet (singing bass). In his “spare time,” he also enjoys sports (go O’s and the N.Y. Giants!) as well as hosting a weekly trivia game.
Words of advice:
“The biggest failure you can have in life, is making the mistake of never trying at all.”
“Life is too short to sit and sulk about the past, get involved and do something in the present, to positively affect your future!”
