Ivy Truitt

School Counselor (last names A-G)

Born and raised in Sussex County, Delaware. Oldest of two children.  My younger brother is a member of the United States Air Force.  I have been working in education for 15 years, 13 years as a school counselor. I graduated from Seaford Senior High School. I graduated from Delaware State University in 2002 with my Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and Chemistry.  I then attended Wilmington University and earned my Master’s Degree in K-12 School Counseling in 2004.  In 2008, I earned a second Master’s Degree in K-12 School Leadership and just recently in 2015, I earned my Advanced Professional Certificate in School Counseling.

I’ve been married to my husband for 12 years who also works for the Lake Forest School District.  I have two daughters, Aleah- 5th grader at Lake Central Elementary and Alexa- 2nd grader at Lake North Elementary.  I assist with the girl’s JV and Varsity basketball when I am available.  I love the Dallas Cowboys, playing basketball and spending time with my family.

Advice to my students- always challenge yourself and work hard.  You will never know what you are capable of until you try.  Set a goal that will make you happy but also successful.
