Lake Forest South Families!
This is Mrs. Alexander, Principal of Lake Forest South Elementary. I would like to start by saying welcome to our new South Families and welcome back to our returning South Families! To say we are in uncharted waters would be an understatement. As many are aware, we are working hard through the logistics of providing a comprehensive, effective, and safe learning program for all students. Under our current plan, all students will receive remote learning daily, while some small cohorts of students will be offered Face-to-Face support within our schools, as we carefully increase student capacity over time. To begin the 2020-21 school year, South will be offering face-to-face support to students with intense instructional needs and those unable to access the internet. Those within these cohorts have been contacted to confirm attendance face-to-face and establish transportation as needed. At this time, we anticipate this group to be very limited, as by having such a small cohort we can confidently ensure student and staff safety through the adherence to CDC and Delaware Public Health guidelines. Those students not engaging in face-to-face support will begin receiving virtual instruction on Sept. 8. Communication from their assigned teacher will occur on August 31. In the upcoming weeks, we will be working with families to ensure that students have internet compatible devices and to provide support to families looking to add internet service to their homes.
I hope this correspondence provides some clarity in our steps moving forward and in the least a timeframe for forthcoming information. Thank you in advance for your time and stay safe.
Mrs. Tania Alexander
