We are nominating Valerie Jolicoeur, New Directions Early Head Start Home Visitor! Nominated by her peers across all programs here at DECC, she is an outstanding home visitor and person. Valerie is the mother of three lovely children and a proud graduate of the New Directions Early Head Start Home Visiting program! Valerie is currently working on her Home Visiting CDA, as she came to home visiting as a career change from the world of accounting. Valerie speaks English, French, and Creole and is an asset to all programs as she willingly steps in to help translate and help others communicate to families in all programs. Additionally, she takes a mindful and intentional approach to her work with each family, making sure that each family’s individual needs are met.

• Valerie goes out of her way to make sure her family’s needs are being met. She does not hesitate to ask questions or seek advice to best meet those needs. Valorie also makes sure to check in with coworkers and offer advice or support.
• She is a rockstar in visits. I would select Val J. She seems to go above and beyond with her families and always has creative activities that are tailored to them. They are also well thought of and meaningful. I get a vibe that she really cares a lot about her families and builds rapport well.
• She not only seems to do well with building relationships with her families, she is the same with coworkers! She will assist in any way she can and is easy to talk to and will talk. She looks for the good in coworkers is a calming voice to talk with!
