treeOctober is officially recognized as Children in Nature Month in Delaware! In honor of this proclamation, students at Lake Forest East Elementary teamed up with the Delaware Forest Service for a hands-on day of learning and tree planting! 🌱
Led by Educator Ashley Melvin and Urban & Community Forestry Coordinator Taryn Davidson, students learned about the importance of trees in our environment — and then each helped plant one! Every student added their own shovel of dirt, making this experience both educational and meaningful.
This event was part of Mrs. Quinn’s yearlong nature-themed Art class initiative, designed to help students appreciate and connect with the world around them. The project grew from a Lake Forest Community Education Foundation grant and the relationships built after one of our third-grade Spartans won the Delaware Arbor Day Poster Contest last spring. 🌿🎨
🤍 A huge thank you to the Delaware Forest Service, Lake Forest Community Education Foundation, Mrs. Quinn, and everyone who helped bring this experience to life for our students.
Together, we’re growing learning — one tree at a time! ✨
